His work spanned book covers, playbills, magazines, advertisements, and textiles. Born on June 26, 1887, in Paris, Lepape studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and began collaborating with Paul Poiret in 1910. The MusŽe des Arts DŽcoratifs in Paris held his first major exhibition in 1920. Invited by CondŽ Nast in 1926, he created iconic covers for Vogue and Vanity Fair in New York. In 2016, his watercolor and ink illustration "Le Miroir" set an auction record. Lepape remained influential in fashion and art until his death on February 15, 1971, in Bonneval, France
